It is also possible to access the port under the Travesía del Cristal bridge (ADIF lower and Ferrol-Gijón upper pass). Six metres wide, this pass serves to connect the N-632 national road with the main port artery.

Communication with the port hinterland is served by the N-632 road that runs from Ribadesella to Canero, which links up in Avilés with the A-8 (Gijón-Serín-Avilés) motorway, and in Serín with the A-66 (Serín-Oviedo) motorway.

The roadway owned by the Castrillón Town Council, and which reaches the Western Quay of the San Juan de Nieva dock, links the port to Salinas and the factories in San Juan de Nieva and Arnao.

RENFE's access point is at the San Juan de Nieva station, from which it spreads out throughout the port area, as well as to the depots at Playón de Raíces, where there is a manoeuvre grid.
