Port development of the right-hand shore of the Avilés estuary: Phase I

Description of project

The works consist of providing a new, 505.60 m mooring line on the right-hand shore of the Avilés Estuary, which makes up a 26.80 m wide operating area. This will give rise to an esplanade of some 54,210 m2.
The new infrastructure consists of a quay with its corresponding services surface area to be developed on the right-hand shore of the area, on the Pedro Menéndez canal in front of the “El Estrellín” quarry. The new quay will enable the docking of ships of up to 72,000 TPM, to which end a -14.00 m draught has been designed for the quay (in reference to the Port of Avilés zero). The quay will be topped at a level of +6.30.
The width of the canal between the new quay and the fishing dock will be to the order of 225.53 m, 180.85 m of which (measured from the shelf of the new quay) will stand at a level of –11.50 m (with reference to Port of Avilés zero).
