Renovation of the southern and western quays at San Juan de Nieva dock: Phase II
Description of project
2005 saw the completion of Phase I works on the “Renovation of the Southern and Western Quays at the San Juan de Nieva Dock”, which consisted of extending the quay lines of the dock some 50 m seawards. Moreover, the work saw an increase of the Western and Southern quays’ draughts to 10 m and 12 m, respectively. Aforementioned works were financed from current Operational Programme 2000-2006 ERDF funds.
Phase II works consist of implementing services between Phase 1 ground and the beach avenue. These include the paving and installation of the lighting, drainage, supply, irrigation, fire hydrants, and also provide for the replacing of the present rail track with a plate embedded one. The surface area to be developed is to the order of 35,263.45 m2, the aim of which is to endow the Southern Quay with a depth of 200 m.
