Important Projects

Port actions related to the ISPS code. Civil works: New enclosure.

Description of project

This project consists in the renovation of the enclosing wall of the Port of Avilés restricted access area, which necessarily involves the restoration or facing of the existing wall in some areas, or its complete pulling down and re-building in others. This action is to be completed by the installation of new gates and the refurbishing of services and pavements where necessary. Along the length of the wall new raceways will be put in place for lighting and data purposes. These will be used for the enclosing wall's lighting supply and for remote control network and video surveillance wiring, and other uses, in the future.
The new enclosing structure is made up a concrete wall, at least 89 cm high and 25 cm wide, to run along continuous stretches of 15.40 m, consisting of a footing and reinforced concrete face upon which a running metal fence will be fitted. The stretches of wall will be interspersed with a 4.2 m high, pre-fabricated column, likewise made of reinforced concrete, fitted with energy saving, halogen lights at the top, thus endowing the enclosing wall with low intensity lighting, but useful in beaconing and enclosure security terms.
The enclosing wall has been designed to meet International Code security specifications for the protection of ships and port installations (2002 ISPS Code).
