Side
Each one of the sides of the ship’s hull, running from the board to the keel.
Starboard
Right-hand side of the boat from perspective of the stern to prow. Also: in Spanish port terms, a synonym of green light.
Stop-over
A port at which a vessel will call and anchor for a certain amount of time.
Stowage
This refers to the suitable and ordered positioning of weights in the ship so that it can have: the greatest stability, the most suitable trim for the type of sailing to be done, and so that mutually incompatible goods are separated. Also: a set of weights placed on board to afford the ship stability. Also: the art of placing cargo on board.
